NEW ALBUM “My Universe”

Listening to this album instantly transports you to the beautiful and enchanted universe of Maria Puga Lareo.  This is an album that invites you to listen actively and transport yourself into the magical soundscapes created by the incredible singing, playing, and arrangements.

Maria has made a triumphant first American release, with the help of some of the greatest musicians performing and writing today.  From the lush and elegant string arrangements of Nan Schwartz, through the poignant and interactive performance of the small jazz group, to the sonic clarity and beauty of the production (expertly and tastefully produced by my friend of the last 40+ years, Bob Sheppard and co-produced by Maria), this album exudes intelligence, depth, and insight at every turn.

Even with the extraordinary playing of the jazz group (Josh Nelson, Mike Valerio, Christian Euman, Leo Amuedo, Alex Acuña, Bob Sheppard and Carol Robbins), and even with the sumptuous string arrangements and the swinging jazz arrangements - what stands out to me are Maria’s beautiful vocal interpretations.  Her voice covers the entire gamut of human emotion, in different languages, and to me it acts as a guide through the many-layered and infinitely interesting landscape of Maria Puga Lareo’s universe.
